Of Sleeping Birds combines location, movement and music to create a symphony that reacts to its environment. Forty Android phones were housed inside 40 hand-made speaker boxes—each phone represented a different instrument and was controlled by GPS—allowing each speaker to play different sounds as they were carried by participating audience members. Four different groups were guided around Cambridge, interacting in different ways to add yet another layer of sound and complexity to the geolocational performance.
Of Sleeping Birds was composed and created by Circumstance, an international artist collective that brings together an amazingly talented mix of musicians, designers and artists.
