One of RÖKBRAND’s early posts highlighted Alaric King, a designer who had created a wooden CD case as a unique bespoke solution to a personal packaging project. Cut to 2012. Alaric and fellow designer, Ben Tildale have refined the construction of these cases and put them into mass production. They are now available to purchase through the WoodCase website where you can select from multiple wood types and customize your own cover art. As you can see above, there’s potential to creating some truly unique packaging.

you think that what we pay for in the stores for our cds would include more stuff. the price must be high because of the jewel case right? wrong i think, probably costs very little so therefore cd cases should be thought out a lot more.

    1. Agreed. Putting more thought into CD packaging may make the physical disc attractive again.
