I, the phoenix

I stumbled across “I, the phoenix” today, and even though their latest release, Observers Among Us, (housed in a pretty cool looking 3D stereoscopic digipack) isn’t that recent, I felt compelled to post about the band because of their unique approach to music (listen here) and visuals (see trailer above). I, the phoenix is the electro-noise rock project of Belgian director, Jean-Paul Frenay who has taken a very experimental approach to his band’s songwriting and music videos, utilizing industrial sounds, layers of distorted guitar, choppy editing and digital noise. The combination of audio and visual mixes to produce a bleak futuristic art installation, but the look and feel is experimental enough to feel unique and intriguing. Besides, I’ve always enjoyed the dark.
