Bright Eyes’ goes even more “limited edition”

As long as we’re on the subject of new Bright Eyes releases, I came across an interesting tweet from the band (screengrab above) that I thought was really smart and attention-grabbing. The band’s “Hunt for the Key” promotion states that select indie record stores across the country will each have one autographed deluxe album hidden in their store.
It’s up to fans to find out on which day the autographed copy will hit the shelves and then it’s first come, first served. I love this promotion for two reasons: 1) the use of Twitter
to announce the contest and share updates and 2) the effort that band goes through to
deliver a unique product. It’s great to see 2011 technology utilized to inspire a very traditional method of music acquisition.
