The official line on Mogees is that it’s “…an interactive gestural-based surface for realtime audio mosaicing.” In other words, you can now turn your tree or dining room table into a fully functional keyboard. Through gesture recognition, a microphone can now recognize your finger drums, and convert those taps and beats into sounds from a musical instrument. Mogees is the software that converts the taps into a recognizable keyboard, drum kit, harp, etc. The inner workings get pretty complicated, so head on over to the original story at Wired to get all of your geeky details. My mind spins as I ponder the potential for this technology – merging it with the Playbutton would be my first suggestion.
